The College of Science and the College of Medicine at the University of Zakho organized a scientific panel addressing breast cancer awareness and prevention, in cooperation with Zakho Private Hospital

The panel was conducted on February 11, 2026, and was attended by university faculty members and students and featured a number of specialist physicians, including Dr. Fatima Kamal, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Hassan Hussein Hamid, a specialist in general surgery, Dr. Mohammed Akram Shingali, a specialist in oncology, and Dr. Saleh Mustafa, a radiology specialist. The session focused on mechanisms of breast cancer prevention, early detection strategies, risk reduction, and methods of protection. In addition, several related topics were examined, and participants engaged in discussions and raised questions concerning the issues presented.

The University of Zakho is expected to continue organizing similar scientific panels on medical issues in the future in order to reinforce its commitment to public health awareness.
